Large Handmade Vintage Raggedy Ann Doll
Handmade Raggedy Ann, hand-embroidered face, ~30 in tall
A big handmade Raggedy Ann, the child-size kind somebody sewed at a kitchen table. Standing right at two and a half feet, with a completely hand-embroidered face — black button eyes with zigzag lashes, red triangle nose, and that wide red smile — under a thick mop of orange yarn hair. She's in the classic outfit: a tiny floral print dress under a white pinafore trimmed in red rickrack, green-and-white striped legs, and black cloth shoes. No maker's tag anywhere. This is a homemade doll sewn from the traditional pattern, not a factory Knickerbocker, and the stitching is genuinely good — tight seams, careful embroidery, well-set hair. Honest condition, listed as fair: there's a worn thin spot on her right cheek where the muslin has rubbed through slightly (photographed close), scattered light staining and a few yellowed spots on the white apron, and general age soiling on the muslin body and hands. Everything is structurally sound — no open seams, no loose limbs, hair fully attached, face embroidery all intact. She displays wonderfully from a few feet back. From a Washington Parish, Louisiana estate.
