What the 1-Ton Label on This A.B. Chance Hoist Actually Tells You

This A.B. Chance aluminum lever hoist is marked for a 1-ton rated load. That marking is useful, but it is not the same thing as a current inspection or certification. On a used lifting tool, that distinction matters.
The hoist includes the chain, ratcheting lever, and two hooks shown in the photos. The mechanism moved through a basic hand test, and the chain and hooks show normal use wear and surface oxidation. It has not been load-tested or professionally certified by Lott’s & Found.
What to look at on a used lever hoist
Start with the label, hooks, chain, and ratcheting mechanism. The label tells you the manufacturer’s rated load for the tool, but it cannot tell you how the hoist was previously used, stored, or inspected. Close photos are included so you can judge the visible wear for yourself.
If you need a specific label detail, hook angle, chain close-up, or measurement, ask before buying and I’ll photograph the exact area.
This A.B. Chance hoist is listed at $165 OBO. Local pickup is available in Franklinton, Louisiana. Continental U.S. shipping can be quoted before purchase. View the full listing for photos, condition notes, and contact options.
